OCT Scan

  • What is an OCT Scan?

This extraordinary machine takes a 3D image below the surface of your retina. The clarity and detail that we can see helps us to better detect changes in your eye health sooner.

And the sooner we can notice any health issues, the more options you have in the form of treatment.

  • What does an OCT Scan help us better detect?

The precise nature of this scan enables your optometrist to pick up subtle changes to the internal health of your eyes.

In particular, an OCT Scan is effective in detecting signs of Macular Degeneration, a group of degenerative diseases that can lead to eventual loss of your critical vision. If you’d like to get a deeper understanding of Macular Degeneration, head in store to speak to your optometrist.

  • When should you get an OCT Scan?

You can get an OCT with your next Standard Eye Exam.*

We recommend you talk to your optometrist as soon as you can about having an OCT Scan, if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms below:

    • Trouble reading or any other activity that requires fine vision
    • Straight lines seem wavy or bent
    • People’s faces are harder to see
    • Dark or empty patches appear in the centre of your vision
  • Where can you go for an OCT Scan?

You can arrange an OCT scan by:

    • Book online
    • Calling 13 20 20 (AUS)
    • Calling 0800 696 776 (NZ)

If you'd like to get a deeper understanding of what a OCT means to you, then talk to your optometrist before you get started.

*OCT available for an additional fee at selected OPSM stores.
