glaucoma is a disease where the passages that drain fluid from the eyes become clogged or blocked. This results in a build up of eye fluid which creates increased pressure inside the eye. This pressure damages the optic nerve which connects the eye to the brain. Any damage to the optic nerve results in less information being received by the brain and therefore a loss of vision.
