The higher your prescription the thicker your lenses. In case of longsight or reading prescriptions the thickness is in the centre giving the appearance of a magnified effect. Flatter profile aspheric lenses can improve the appearance of your glasses by reducing the bulbous nature of the lenses and lessening the magnifying appearance of the eye in higher prescriptions.

The higher your prescription the thicker your lenses. In the case of shortsight the thickness is at the edge of the lens. A thinner profile material can be used to reduce the edge thickness thereby resulting in a better-looking pair of glasses.
