Update on New Zealand

Updated on September 1 2021

The safety and well-being of our community is always a priority. We closely follow the Government’s COVID Alert Levels across New Zealand.

Under Alert Level 2, we are open for all services. Our team member will call you to reschedule any appointment you may have missed while we were closed and/or to book a time to collect your glasses or contacts. We take the safety of the community seriously and have in place health and hygiene protocols to protect our team members and customers. We ask customers to reconsider their visit if they are experiencing any flu or cold like symptoms.

Under both Alert level 3 and 4, our OPSM practices remain closed as directed by the government. For customers, who had an eye exam appointment booked or a current order pending collection, a team member will contact you as soon as we re-open to reschedule. If you require urgent attention, please visit your local GP or emergency department at your local hospital.

Phone and Online Support

Due to the lockdown and our stores being closed, the response times from our Customer Care team are a little longer than usual. We ask for your kindness and understanding that we are not able to provide you with support for replacement glasses, contactless order collections or contact lenses.

If you have a valid prescription, you can buy contact lenses and single vision glasses through our website and have them delivered in the comfort of your own home in 5 to 10 working days.

In line with the Government mandated 7-day lockdown across Auckland, our OPSM stores will be closed for the duration of the lockdown based on advice from the relevant authorities that face to face consultations are not permitted. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide support for replacement glasses or contact lenses with our stores closed. Please call our Customer Care team on 0800 444 539 for further assistance. If you require urgent attention, please visit your local GP or emergency department at your local hospital.

Our stores across the rest of the country remain open and have in place health and hygiene protocols to protect our team members and customers. We ask customers to reconsider their visit if they are experiencing any flu or cold like symptoms.

Update on New Zealand

Updated on September 1 2020

We are pleased to share that our Auckland stores have reopened effective from 31 August 2020. In line with the government’s move to Alert Level 2 in Auckland, all OPSM stores in NZ are now open for your eye care and eye wear needs.

We have in place health and hygiene protocols to ensure a safe environment for our team members and the community. Our priority has always been on implementing good personal hygiene and have hand sanitising dispensers readily available. On top of overall store cleanliness we promote physical distancing and the use of face masks where physical distancing cannot be maintained. All customers who have an eye exam will be provided with a face mask for the duration of their visit. We reserve the right to set reasonable conditions of service to protect the health and safety of our team and customers. This is in line with the Government’s recommendation to wear face masks where physical distancing is difficult to be maintained. As leaders in our industry we feel it is important to take proactive and precautionary measures to help reduce community transmission of COVID-19. We ask for your cooperation.

Latest COVID-19 Update

Updated on August 6 2020

Our thoughts are with the people of Victoria.
Our stores in Metro Melbourne in Victoria are available for urgent and critical care for our customers that need it during this difficult time and order collection. Please call your store for the latest trading hours and further assistance. In accordance with the Government Public Health direction, OPSM stores in Victoria require all customers to wear a face mask while in store. We reserve the right to refuse entry to the store if you are not wearing a face mask without a valid reason (we will provide you with a face mask if you do not already have one). For customers unable to visit our stores, OPSM is offering Tele-Optometry, a free remote video consultation with an OPSM optometrist from the comfort of your own home. For recent orders, we can also arrange direct to home delivery.

Use of Face Masks.
As we have seen in Victoria, the COVID-19 situation can change rapidly. All of our team members and customers across OPSM stores in Australia are strongly encouraged to wear face masks when physical distancing is difficult to be maintained in store. All customers who have an eye exam will be required to wear a face mask for the duration of their visit (unless there are valid medical grounds for not wearing one). We reserve the right to set reasonable conditions of service to protect the health and safety of our team and customers. While it is not mandated in other parts of Australia, as leaders in our industry we feel it is important to take proactive measures to help reduce community transmission of COVID-19. We ask for your cooperation.

Safety and Hygiene Protocols.
For the safety and protection of you and our community, we have put in place additional hygiene and social distancing practices. Our priority has always been on implementing good personal hygiene and have hand sanitising dispensers readily available. On top of overall store cleanliness we promote physical distancing and the use of face masks where physical distancing cannot be maintained. OPSM will provide both team members and customers with disposal face masks where required. Prior to an appointment, our team will also ask health screening questions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission to other customers or team members.

Delay your visit.
In accordance with Australian government recommendations we ask that customers who have had contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case or returned from interstate/overseas travel in the past 2 weeks, are personally experiencing any flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough or breathing difficulty, or are waiting for a COVID-19 test result, to delay booking an appointment for at least 14 days.

TAKING ACTION.
As united members of the community, we want to openly share the additional measures we are taking to protect our customers, our people and the community in these uncertain times.
• We’ve implemented vigilant cleaning protocols to minimise contaminants in the factories where our products are made, our distribution centres, our stores and our company workplaces.
• Every day, our stores are undergoing a deep cleaning process with special attention to frequently touched surfaces. All shelves, trays, light switches and doorknobs are cleaned multiple times a day.

PEACE OF MIND.
To ensure we are doing everything we possibly can, we’ve also established an Emergency Response Team to continually evaluate and respond, in real time, to the evolving situation. Our proactive approach incorporates the guidance of the WHO (World Health Organisation) and relevant health authorities.

SAFETY FIRST.
Your safety is our number one priority, so we’ve requested that if any team member feels unwell, they should remain at home and we encourage our customers to do the same. In the best interests of the community, when you’re booking an eye-exam our team members will ask additional pre-screening questions to ensure you don’t pose a risk.
